Member for Madang Open and Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Nixon Duban, presented the Acquittal Reports for the Madang District Services Improvement Program and the Madang District Grant.
Minister Duban was satisfied with the reports, saying the district has done a lot more interventions across different sectors, than in the previous years.
He however admitted that anomalies may be found, as the Madang District has had the unfortunate political challenges in the form of three Court of Disputed Returns, a By Election and a recount.
The reports presented were for DSIP for 2014 and 2015, and the DSG for 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Minister Duban said 9 months after his election win in 2012, he was dismissed by the court of disputed returns and the Madang District was left without a political leader for much of 2013.
The Member then presented the DSIP and DSG Acquittal Reports and strongly recommended that the two reports be vetted and thoroughly scrutinised. He encouraged investigations into any short comings found and those responsible be dealt with accordingly.
The Minister was accompanied by the Madang District Development Authority CEO, Martin Hanibal, and Acting District Treasurer Matthew Sengian when the Acquittal Reports were presented to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development.
