East Central Province United Church will continue to promote youth involvement in church programs to steer them away from bad habits.
Local Church Chairman, Raynold Inia, said ”activities such as Sunday school and youth camps will keep youths occupied and discourage them from causing mischief. As a result, there has been a drop in alcohol and substance abuse by youths in the area.”
Youths from various circuits in the East Central Papua Region gathered yesterday at Goulupu Village, Rigo, for the third Regional Youth Convention.
Along with Bible teachings, the week-long convention will cover topics such as gender equality and gender based violence.
Church members who want to see a positive change in their communities locally fund all Church programs. Positive youth development is a priority for the communities and this convention is one such activity that falls in line with their programs.
