Life made easier for Central Bougainvilleans

Life has been made a little easier for some ten thousand people of Central Bougainville.

They stand to benefit fromthe new Wakunai-Togarao Road onthe east coast that ensures much better access to markets and services at Wakunai, Arawa and Beka.

President John Momis said Togarao is known for its fertile soil and high quality of garden produce in this region.

Mr. Momis saidthe road itself is an important project and will assistthe Togarao people to increase garden food production at Wakunai, Beka and Arawa.

PNGSDP chief executive David Sode saidthe Eleven Million Kina project would open up a new world of opportunity for the people.

He saidthe main purpose is to allofPNG DP’s local contractors to startthe major development work onthe first phase ofthe Togarao Power project.

There has been limited work usingthe existing access track sothe reconstruction work on this road will assist bring heavy equipment haulage to installthe hydro system.

Once this is done, electricity will be made available tothe Rotokas villages and surrounding communities, local school andthe clinic.
