Leadership Training for Lae Youth Leaders

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV, Port Moresby

In a city where crime is a daily occurrence, avenues have been created to foster youth development.

Leadership trainings, carried out by the National Youth Development Authority, are crucial to transforming the lives of unemployed youths.

Twenty-three Ward Presidents from Lae Youth Council, and Ahi Youth Council, participated in a leadership training organized by NYDA.

The training was a first for PNG, as it aims at equipping them with strong organizational structure and compliance skills that are key ingredients to quality leadership.

The training is part of the NYDA’s role in developing a workable platform, to assist many school leavers pushed out of formal education.

NYDA believes empowering youths at the district and provincial level builds their profile in their community, allowing them to integrate in the affairs of their peers and community.

Participants were grateful for the training and feel prepared to implement the knowledge gained in their respective communities.
