The state funeral service of late Hela Governor, Anderson Agiru, will be held next week Wednesday in Port Moresby.

Chairman and Member for Koroba Lake-Kopiago, Philip Undialu, says this will be followed with the repatriation of the body to Mendi on Thursday for viewing. Later that day, the body will be flown to Tari where thousands are expected to welcome the body at Andaija Oval.

The late Governor’s body will then spend three to four days at his home place Dauli before laying him to rest.

Currently, the official mourning places are in Hela, Andaija , Dauli and Lomia which are the late Governor’s home villages.

Government dignitaries, members of parliament, family and friends are expected to accompany the body to Southern Highlands then to Hela.

The late Hela Governor died last week Thursday, after he was rushed to the Pacific International Hospital but died upon arrival.

Late Agiru has been battling a long illness after going through a kidney operation.
