Land Title Dispute

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Owner and Managing Director of Mosbi City Realty Limited, Michael Kandiu, has called for a commission of inquiry into the Department of Lands.

His call comes after his land title for portion 1671 Granville Bomana was illegally forfeited without his knowledge.

He is concerned that many Papua New Guineans are becoming victims of illegal practices within the lands department.

A distressed Kandiu fronted the media this afternoon to protest the forfeiture of his land title to portion 1671 Granville Bomana.

According to documents, Kandiu purchased the land in February 2012 under the name Glitter Ventures.

However, he was surprised that the title was forfeited without his knowledge.

Kandiu has written to the Lands Secretary, Romilly Kila Pat, and the Lands Minister, Benny Allen, but has received unfavourable responses.

He was never given any notice of the forfeiture by the lands department and their silence has prompted him to speak out on the corruption within the lands department.

The matter has been reported to police and those individuals identified to be involved will be investigated.

He says action must be taken against these corrupt individuals to restore the good image of the Lands Department.
