The Central Province Lakwaharu Nines has sent a team to take part in the Edmonton Super Nines competition in Cairns.
With more emphasis and focus in sports development in the Kairiku Hiri District, dreams of showcasing raw talents in this local competition have been realised.
An envoy of 30 players and 6 officials left yesterday to Cairns to take part in the Edmonton Nines competition.
Lakwaharu Nines is an ongoing competition started in 2007 comprising mainly of local teams from the district, starting from Gaire to Manumanu villages.
It has been the pathway for many raw talents in Katio Otto Canberra Raiders, Nana Ranu Port Moresby Vipers and many others.
Taking part in this international tournament will showcase and market these players talents to Cairns based clubs.
Local MP, Peter Isoaimo, has come to aid of K20,000 and K30,000 from fundraising activities. This has gone towards their travel arrangements and other expenses during their stay in Cairns.
This competition will begin tomorrow and will go for a week.
