Aussie Tennis rep, Nick Kyrgios, has been banned for eight tournament weeks, for his conduct at the Shanghai Masters last week.
On top of the eight week suspension, the 21 year old tennis bad boy has also been slapped with an additional $25,000 fine, which may also keep him off court till January, next year.
The Australian was beaten 6-3 6-1 by Mischa Zverev in a second-round match on Wednesday (October 12) in which he put in a series of half-hearted serves and appeared to be walking off court before the unseeded German had completed his shot.
The 21-year-old, who has had a number of scrapes with tennis authorities over his behaviour in the past, also clashed with spectators before being booed off the court, for which he was fine $16,500 by the Governing body for men’s tennis, ATP.
The ATP later said, the suspension will be reduced to three tournament weeks upon agreement that the player enters a plan of care under the direction of a sports psychologist.
Following TPA’s statement, Tennis Australia (TA) said Kyrgios, has agreed to seek professional help, which could see him return to court on Nov. 7.
