Dozens of kitesurfers gathered on the sandy beaches of Mexico’s Los Barriles, in the state of Baja California, for a five-day event that began this past weekend.
The kitesurfers are taking part in the sixth annual Lord of the Wind competition.
The sixth annual Lord of the Wind competition in Los Barriles is the largest kite surfing event in the North American continent.
The Pro-Kite foil competition consisted of 15 races and was won comfortably by American Joey Pasquali, ahead of Frenchman Julien Kerneur.
Kerner won the Men’s Pro Big Air tournament, ahead of Jacob Olivier, while Kerner also did well in the Slalom Pro events in the Men’s Pro category, finishing third behind top finisher Bruno Ferreira and Mac Skaggs in second.
In the Women’s Pro Slalom tournament Justi Vonada came first.
The women’s Big Air Pro event was won by Cynthia Brown. The total prize money for competitors came to US$22,150.
