Kase: Nurses Will Be Paid

The PNG Nurses Association awards is not in the 2016 budget, however the government will honour the award.

This is coming from Health Secretary, Pascoe Kase, who said this decision was made last week by the Department of Personnel Management, Health Department and other state agencies.

Mr Kase says the outstanding awards will be met and since it’s not catered for in the 2016 budget, it will be planned into the 2017 budget. This will allow for back payment to January 2016 to be paid.

Mr Kase added there is now an agreement and commitment by the state to put the new awards on the first pay day of October 2016.

The Health Secretary met with the nurses association yesterday and was able to come into an agreement and is going through a process of negotiations.
