Counting for the Kairuku-Hiri Open Electorate is set to kick off next month.
Ballot boxes from the Kairuku and Mekeo LLGs were transferred to Port Moresby from Bereina, under full police escort yesterday.
Electoral Commissioner Andrew Trawen said in a press release that because of bad weather, polling is continuing in the Koiari LLG and should finish this Friday.
The four boxes are safely locked away in the storage container outside the Institute of Public Administration.
Supporters for the two favorite candidates, Paru Aihi and Henao Iduhu, are already at the counting venue. They are planning to camp outside IPA until a winner is declared.
Mr Trawen said the Information Communication and Technology branch is progressing well with the preparation for electronic counting.
He also commended the people of Kairuku-Hiri for their co-operation and the police personnel for providing security during polling.
