Jeremiah Yinu Passes On

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Thomas Yinu and Antonia Yinu are two grieving parents still trying to accept the death of their son Jeremiah Yinu.

Jeremiah Yinu lost his battle on Wednesday while in a coma, after been allegedly beaten up by soldiers early this year.

Both parents will be pushing for a murder charge on all soldiers implicated.

For the past 2 months, Jeremiah has being in a coma in the intensive care unit at the Port Moresby General Hospital.

Jeremiah slipped into a coma after been allegedly beaten up by soldiers during the Kilakila Secondary School cultural show in July this year.

He was, at that time, in Grade 11 at the Salvation Army Secondary school in Koki, Port Moresby.

It’s a great loss to the family and one that is hard to deal with. His parents will be awaiting the results of a post mortem before proceeding with further charges on the soldiers involved.

The soldiers implicated have since been out on bail and in active duty.

The family says, this is unfair to them and they want the soldiers suspended from duty pending their court case.

Jeremiah’s death has again raised questions on the recruitment process of soldiers, which the family says, must be reviewed and changed.
