The Japanese government will provide logistical support for PNG to host the 2018 APEC Summit.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Rimbink Pato, and Japanese Ambassador, Morio Matsumoto, today signed a memorandum of understanding to execute the program.
Under the program, Japan’s assistance will total K13 million to cover logistics for APEC, as well as a component for improving education in rural PNG.
Ambassador Matsumoto said PNG will be hosting a major event and transportation of guests will be important, with the K13 million to help PNG in dealing with the logistical capacity.
The Ambassador also said that education was key in developing countries. He said that the Japanese government would like to provide remote schools with materials to improve education in the remotest areas, to further promote EQUITV.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Rimbink Pato, thanked Japan for their ongoing support. He said that Japan was an important partner and has always supported PNG, not only through this project but many others.
