Japan has qualified for the semi-finals after beating Brazil 3 goals to 1 at the National Football Stadium.
Having dominated most of the match, Japan proved too classy for the South American Champions.
Japan, emphatic in their victory over Brazil, the Canarinha paying the price for overplaying their 11 throughout the group stages.
Fatigue and frustration began to creep in, Brazil’s leading goal scorer Gabi Nunes and forward Geyse being appearing a little sloppy on the pitch.
Both teams went into half time with only one goal to Japan, that goal coming courtesy of Miyaba Moriya, in added time in the first half.
In the second half Brazil were kept stagnant, they had less opportunities on goal, and passes were not finding the players.
Gabi Nunes pulled one back in the 91st minute, but Moriya killed the match only moments later for Japan to ease into the semi-finals.
In the earlier match, Heart break for the Spanish side right at the death, KIM PYONG HWA’s 106th minute goal, seeing Korea DPR advance, although Spain, who had conceded two goals by the half hour mark, fought back with goals to Nahikari and Lucia Garcia.
Spain played in their first ever quarter-finals, taking it to the 2006 champions, domination possession and slightly off in terms of their shots on target.
