Education of children is not only the responsibility of parents but the community as a whole.
This was the message from a PNG delegation comprising of three women and four men, who recently visited Haifa, Israel.
The main aim was to enhance education values in PNG and to help educate children, youths and adults with a holistic approach. Education is more than reading, writing, and mathematics.
It is one of the most important investments a country can make in its people and its future, and is critical to reducing poverty and inequality.
Many parents, guardians and young people may be concerned about yet another change in the education curriculum and the work it will cause.
On the 5th of February this year, a seven-member delegation from Papua New Guinea left for Haifa in Israel to join others from around the world to consult on preparing young people to be responsible for both their own spiritual growth and participation in the advancement of civilisation.
With a valuable education, young people are assisted by appropriately qualified adults in schools, homes and youth organisations, religious and otherwise, to heighten those values underlying their own attitudes. These values prove more effective for short term and long term well-being.
