Isoaimo Explains Delay of Laloki School Project

Kairuku-Hiri MP, Peter Isoaimo, says he will remain committed to education in his electorate.

The local MP said this after being queried by EMTV News on a pledge he made to Laloki Secondary School in 2014 for a double classroom.

The member added that schools will be supported, but with stringent processes to be followed.

Isoaimo said the project was passed as a resolution in 2014, as part of its decision.

However, issues concerning procurement and tender process, appointments and other internal matters of the school, are some that slowed down the delivery of this priority project.

“The project still stands. We are kindly asking the CEO to fast track the procurement and tender process so children can enjoy learning,” he said.

The new Hiri District Development Authority Chief Executive Officer has been directed to review the project.

Isoaimo called on the school to consult his office so other matters can be resolved.

“Laloki Secondary School must forward some correspondence. We are willing to help, because under our motto ‘we are only custodian’ to the funds. It’s the people’s money,” he said

Isoaimo says he wants to see children enjoy their schooling, and a brighter future for Kairuku-Hiri.
