The Coca Cola Ipatas Cup leg of the competition for NCD and Central is set for early December. So far only one team, ID 24, has paid the registration fee and time is running out with only 16 spots available for NCD and Central respectively as more than 20 teams have shown interest.
It’s the offseason in rugby league and the biggest off season tournament, the Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup, is again making its return for the 2019 season. Port Moresby and Central Province will be part of the Southern leg of the competition, which is set to kick off in early in the festive month.
“The calendar schedule for the Ipatas Cup is December 13. 14 and 15; if we do not wind down by then we will move to the following week, 18, 19 and 20 December.”
The competition is looking to make the kick off time with teams already putting in their interests with clubs like ID 24, Boarder Storms, Paga Panthers, Royals, Brothers and PNG Ports Rainbow Rangers, Director CCIC NCD and Central Simon Maima, says only 16 spots are up for grabs in NCD and Central respectively.
Maima added that one of the new inclusions in the competition was the introduction of player profiles for the teams, adding that this will make it easy for scouts to identify talents and also help to identify players that are playing for more than one club.
