Ipatas Cup

The Bumbu Babarians have made it into the Ipatas playoffs. They beat Under Dogs 01 Titans 24 to 10 in the Northern zones eliminations grabbing the first of the goal pass.

Having the experience in the line-up, the Babarians proved too strong for the Eastern Highlands boys in one of the most entertaining matches of the competition that started on Friday and ended with the elimination on Sunday.

In the second elimination, one of Lae city’s big name clubs, Kamkumu Crushes, played hard, battling with Buyong Dogs to win 17-10, and claiming the second goal pass.

Beyond Dogs had dominated most of the starting minutes, but the Crushes had the last laugh capitalizing on immense support from fans.

Coca cola Ipatas Cup Executive Officer, Timothy Lepa, was at the venue which will play host to the finals for the zone winners.

The Ipatas Cup plays a pivotal role in selecting players for the semi-professional competition and alternately the country’s rugby league pride, the PNG Kumuls.
