We asked folks in Lae what birthday wish they have for the country/ their community in the lead up to the 41st celebrations; and this is what they said.
Hobert Simaga, 24, is from Rabaraba, Milne Bay province but has been raised in Lae. He reflected that even to this day in age youth in his village still respect their elders. He says despite the issues, he is proud to be called a Papua New Guinean. He is appealing to youth to sit down and have a good conversation with elderly people whether in their families, communities or a stranger on the street.
