Housing Minister says audit to help address NHC issues

Housing and Urbanization Minister John Kaupa, is disappointed by the recent evictions in the country.

Kaupa made it clear that all recent evictions in NCD and around the country have been brought to his attention.

But he said, many have errors in their records, with most having two titles held by different parties.

Minister Kaupa told EMTV news, the audit into all National Housing Corppration (NHC) properties has commenced; evictions have also been reported in Lae, Madang, Kimbe and other parts of NCD.

“There has been other major sales in Mt Hagen, Alotau and in the New Guinea Islands region, we will stop all these sales and take back the ownership title”, said Minister Kaupa.

“If we have to pay and get hold of the title, we will do that”, he added.

He said the audit should give some directions to his office and details of all deals of NHC properties made in the past 30 years.

“We should be in a better position to address most of the issues crippling the Department after the completion of the audit”, He said.
