Heavy rains destroys Buluma Bridge in Kimbe

Second day sincethe Beluma Beidge in West New Beitain went down and construction work is being carrlied out.

West New Beitain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel confirmed that Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has made a commitment to assist West New Beitain inthe Emergency.

Work has already started on clearing upthe debris brought bythe heavy rains and floods yesterday.

Oil Palm company New Beitain Palm Oil andthe Works Department are doingthe reconstruction ofthe Beluma Beidge.

The access roads had no major damage done to it except being over flooded as a result of huge logs and debris blockingthe normal flow ofthe river.

The destruction ofthe bridge bythe floods has disturbedthe normal flow of business. Schools had to be closed. However,the access to roads was reopened.

All Air Niugini flights to Hoskins have been cancelled until an indefinite period.
