Despitethe cold drizzly wether Chief Secretary to Government , Sir Manasupe Zurenuoc, was warmly greeted atthe Holy Trinity Teacher’s College to officiatethe ICAC meeting for the highlands region.
“Let’s stop talking and start working to fight corruption”,these were Sir Manasupe’s words when officiating attheIndependence Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) meeting in Mt Hagen Western Highlands recently.
The establishment oftheIndependent Commission Against Corruption is a push bythe O’Neill-Dion Government to combat corruption at all levels acrosPNG.
Sir Manasupe said such a meeting shows a bigger step in fighting corruption and implement strategies for good governance.
He added that corruption is not new and this commission will take a serious step in having corruption brought to an end.
Later that day Sir Manasupe was giventhe privilege to officiatethe launching ofthe Western Highlands Provincial Audit Committee.
Sir Manasupe saidthe direct funding to districts gives more responsibility and accountability to district mangers to show ownership and trust.
The consultative meeting was attended by senior representatives of both public and private sector.
