Black Day in PNG Tourism

Tourism Promotion Authority has expressed shock atthe murder ofthe two local porters andthe attack on Australian Trekkers, calling it a black day in PNG Tourism.

 

Chief Executive Officer Peter Vincent said TPA condemned such violence against international visitors and murders ofthe locals inthe strongest terms.

Mr Vincent said such mindless criminal attacks continues to tarnisPNG’s name overseas and sets back efforts by TPA and stakeholders to developthe tourism sector in PNG

 

Mr Vincent expressed his condolences tothe families ofthe deceased.

 

 

A major police operation is being undertaken to findthe criminals involved inthe attack.

 

The Eye inthe Sky was dispatched early yesterday with members ofthe Air Tactical unit in a rescue mission and to help hunt for the attackers.

 

Mr. Kulunga assuredthe families ofthe trekkers and portersthe police will not rest untilthey catch all those criminals involved and bringthem to facethe full brunt ofthe law.
