Gwarumemase Community Learning Centre (CLC) is the first out of 17 CLCs in Port Moresby to be registered by the Education Department as a formal Elementary School.
The school over the weekend proudly launched their first permanent classroom thanks to Digicel PNG Foundations continued investment in education infrastructure providing increased access to better education.
The Gwarumemase elementary school is nestled in the City Mission grounds in Mirigeda, about 20 minutes outside of Port Moresby along the Magi Highway.
This elementary school is the first CLC out of the 17 CLCs supported by Digicel PNG Foundation to be recognized and approved by the Education Department as an elementary school, taking the license and name of the old Gwarumemase School which has been close for several years due to teacher absenteeism.
The new double classroom building was constructed at a total cost of K95, 000. The investment includes a double classroom building, office space, a water tank and two ventilation improved pit (VIP) toilets.
