“Politics is a battle of ideas. What can we (politicians) do to improve the lives of our citizens?” asked Sir Rabbie. “What is required is better organisation. We as former leaders of PANGU are here to offer support to the new breed of PANGU MPs.” Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, who first served as party leader in 1972, is quoted as saying “PANGU PATI members know what is wrong and what is right. At present in PNG, many things are not right. Leadership of the country has to be changed,” in a quip at current Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill. Tony Ila, who served as Lae MP from 1987 – 1992 encouraged the current members to know the party history and to stand firm in their resolve. Also present were members of the alternative government led by Tari Pori MP, James Marape. ]]>
