PNGDF: Mission Accomplished for APEC Operations

By Stanley Ove Jr, EMTV News, Port Moresby The Papua New Guinea Defense Force (PNGDF) has been commended for its contribution to the joint security operations for APEC 2018. In a debrief yesterday, May 22, in Port Moresby, Chief of Force Preparation Colonel Siale Diro, said the success of this major operation was based on key partnerships that enabled the PNGDF to perform and deliver a safe and secure summit. “It was a giant leap forward for us in terms of high end support as we see where we need to prepare our sea, land and air capabilities to provide support to the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary for this operation,” Colonel Diro said. The Massive security operation’s success was carried out by Papua New Guinea with the support of Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Indonesia. “The key word here is partnership. The PNGDF were able to deliver this without any incidents,” APEC Minister, Justin Tkatchenko said. “After all this, the question now is what will we do? Well we must continue the support and work that has been done in carrying our Defence Force into the future,” Tkatchenko added. Lessons learnt from the APEC Security Operation will be compiled into a journal for future use and will be the PNGDF’s intellectual property for similar operations in future. Chief of Staff, Captain Philip Polewara, confirmed that payments rendered to the PNGDF and APEC allowances are being paid accordingly. He could not comment on other payments, saying, they were Government committed payments and will be met by the Government. https://youtu.be/tSZ3ONdweb8]]>
