Grades Two, Three and Four students from of Gordon International School in Port Moresby have held an art exhibition, showcasing famous European artists Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet’s work through various art forms.
As part of the IEA Curriculum, the school initiated the arts project and engaged the students in teamwork for about eight weeks, to prepare for the exhibition that opened on Wednesday this week.
The exhibition was open to parents and guests, as well as senior classes of the school for viewing and comments.
On display were beautiful works of craft, including the notable ‘Japanese Bridge’ by Claude Monet, depicted through colourful crafts and paintings, and Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’.
The United States Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Walter North, also paid a visit to the exhibition today along with board members of the school.
Ambassador North said he was moved by the artwork of the young students, especially that of those showcasing French artist, Claude Monet.
He added that it was timely to have included Monet as we remember the victims of the Paris attacks.
North also said that he was very impressed at the amount of talent in such young students, and commended the staff and students of Gordon International School for a job well done.
