Gold Coast: USD2 million For Commonwealth Games Infrastructure

The city of Gold Coast, Australia started preparations over a year ago, after bidding successfully for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

To help the city prepare for the Commonwealth Games and host the event, the Queensland Government is helping the city prepare for the games  with a financial assistance of USD 2 million. The money will help fund the building of  facilities for over 6,000 athletes.

Deputy City Mayor Donna Gates, says the construction phase at each facility is going quickly and should be readyfor testing before the event.

The games village is slated to be completed months before the athletes’ arrival and opening ceremony.

The Deputy Mayor also stressed that road infrastructure will be upgraded to welcome the new visitors to the city.
