The Eastern Highlands Province has a new permanent Provincial Administrator who was announced yesterday(September 17) in Goroka, by Eastern Highlands Governor Peter Numu.
The National Executive Council appointed John Gimiseve as the new Provincial Administrator. Gimiseve replaced Sam Akunai whose term of service expired this year.
The new permanent PA was announced in front of a large crowd at the National Park by the head of the Province, Governor Peter Numu.
Gimiseve replaces Samson Akunuai, who has been serving as the Acting Provincial Administrator for Eastern Highlands Province for the last three years.
The new PA was then serving as the Deputy for District and Local Government Affairs since June 2006. Before stepping into his political career, Gimiseve was employed at the PNG University of Technology as the Lecturer for Business Studies Department.
Gimiseve says he will be working closely with the Governor for Eastern Highlands Province, to make sure the Provincial Administration is functioning properly.
Governor Numu said they will ensure their three key priority areas of development, which include roads and bridges, agriculture and trade and investment are improved.
