The National Game Fishing Titles attracted teams from Lae, Madang and also from Tasman Sea, Australia and New Zealand.
The Titles have got off to a brilliant start over the last two days of competition.
Day one of the National Titles proved successful with about 45 fish caught from the 21 boats that have entered so far.
Among the catch was a 41.5kg yellow fin tuna caught by Mike Gibson aboard “Osprey”, a 40kg sailfish by Russell Kerton on “madNESS” and the unfortunate Moli Hidaka who caught a massive 50kg Yellow fin tuna on “Catalinnah”, which he was disqualified for, when he missed the weigh in by a crucial 15 minutes.
Day two of the National Game Fishing Titles found the catch of the day being a 46.4kg yellow fin tuna by David Young, aboard “desperado”.
Game Fishing Association President, Russell Kerton is pleased with the turn out for this year’s National Titles.
With the shootout scheduled for tomorrow, the competition is expected to heat up as the Easter weekend draws near.
