Foreign Boat Ban

Commerce and trade minister, Richard Maru, saysthe government may introduce a legislation that bans all foreign owned fishing companies that don’t have onshore processing plants.

Maru madethe announcement yesterday in Madang when meeting with people fromthPMIZ impact area.

 

He  highlighted statistics fromthe Philippines that show that  foreign owned companies  make four times   value  of &nbspthe fish caught in PNG waters whenthey process it off shore.

 

Papua New Guineacollects license fees as well as ther minor revenue during and afterthe catch.
