FODE System Successful

The Flexible Open Distance Education or FODE system should not be seen as an institution for failures or dropouts.

Sandaun Provincial Governor, Amkat Mai, says that this system has proven to be successful, opening pathways for many.

And there are testimonies from those who studied through the FODE system.

The FODE system over the last years has provided alternatives and opportunities for many.

Governor, Amkat Mai, speaking at the recent launching of the Vanimo FODE Center Internet Connectivity said, “the perception of seeing this system for failures, must change”.

With the latest technology, the FODE Centre in West Sepik Province will now communicate directly with their headquarters, in Port Moresby and the other 21 centres.

World Bank PNG Country Manager, Stefanie Stallmeister, who was the guest of honour said. “all education institutions like FODE should be seen as investments to the country”.

World Bank has two funded projects with the National Education Department; the ‘FODE Internet Connectivity’ and the ‘Read PNG’, supplying of reading materials and setting up of classroom libraries in elementary and primary schools.
