Netball in Papua New Guinea is reaching another mile stone as the fraternity concentrates on developing young talent.
The successful staging of the Junior Netball Championship in the last three days only complemented the joint effort of the fraternity and various stake holders to develop high quality players.
Capacity building is the main junior development aim of the code as more players from around the country display their talents on a national scale.
PNG Netball Federation President, Julienne Leka – Maliaki, says these are talents that should be enhanced to bring the sport forward.
Other stake holders such as the National Gaming Control Board and Vitis Industries have shown great interest having committed their support as well.
Meanwhile associations play a big role, in teaching the sport and bringing these young players out to bigger competitions like the championship, where they get exposure.
Despite not having good facilities, some of the players in smaller associations such as the Moukele Junior Netball Association have proven talented and that has allowed them to participate in the Championship.
Federation President Leka – Maliaki says the championship is the main platform where talents are scouted.
