Japan has begun their FIFA under 20 Women’s World Cup campaign with a massive 6-0 win over Nigeria.
They played their first match at the Bava Stadium on Sunday night.
2010 and 2014 finalists, Nigeria came into the World Cup as a force to be reckoned with, but that wasn’t the case yesterday as Japan dominated all throughout the match.
Japan led 2 – 0 at the stroke of halftime with goals from Yuka Momiki and Mami Ueno.
Japan’s sleek style of play was a key factor in their win.
Player of the match, Yuka Momiki, played an outstanding game yesterday scoring two goals and having countless shots on goal.
Momiki says she’s grateful for receiving the player of the match, and added that it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of her team mates.
She was surprised with their big win against Nigeria, knowing how tough they can be.
Japan will play their next match on Wednesday November 16, against Spain at Bava Park in Port Moresby.
