Female Nurse raped: Angau staff and Management on Strike

ANGAU hospital in Lae remained closed as nurses and management ofthe hospital rejected to performtheir duties following continuous assaults ontheir female staff.

The raping of a female nurse overthe weekend has promptedthe nurse and management to stop work yesterday.

A 48 hours ultimatum was issued to Lae’s police to conduct a thorough investigation. The hospital board says, unless arrests are made, ANGAU hospital will remain close fromthe public.

Patients who turned up atthe hospital yesterday and today were prevented from enteringthe hospital, as nurses had stop worked.

The ANGAU hospital will only operate its accidents and emergency services. ther services will remain close untilthe petition is presented tothe Provincial Government. 

The hospital staff and management have also agreed to cater only for inpatients who have been admitted tothe hospital prior tothe sit in strike.  

A petition is still being written up bythe management ofthe hospital and is expected to be presented tothe provincial house of assembly,the Tutumang on Wednesday.
