EMTV Decoders Stolen In Kimbe

Over two hundred thousand EMTV viewers in West New Britain Province will be unable to receive daily television broadcasts, following vandalism and theft of the EMTV decoder at Mt Dufaore, over the Easter Weekend.

From images provided by the West New Britain Provincial Government, cables were cut and the decoder was ripped off.

West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel said the public is now deprived from news and other relevant vital information within the country, and abroad.

Meanwhile EMTV Engineers have advised that the decoder has been deactivated and would no longer be workable to transmit TV signals. A new decoder will be sent to Kimbe in the coming weeks to reinstall this service.

A formal complaint has been laid to Kimbe Police, who are now working on the case.

Governor Muthuvel expressed disappointment over the incident, and is calling the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the thieves.
