With the financial boost of over fourteen thousand kina from QBE Foundation Philosophy, Red Cross PNG will do more awareness on the El Nino season.
The money will go into assisting PNG Red Cross with its programs of Disaster Preparedness, Community Health, and Hygiene Awareness.
A cheque of fourteen thousand and three hundred kina was presented to the Red Cross Society in Port Moresby today.
According to the Environment Climate Prediction Centre, El Nino refers to the temporary change in the climate in the Pacific Ocean and areas surrounding the equator.
In PNG, the drop in the water level at Sirinumu dam and the cold weather experienced in Port Moresby are examples of El Nino.
With the financial support from QBE, the 14 branches of Red Cross will go head on with awareness programs to ensure people know what measures they can take.
Red Cross will be working closely with provincial governMen’s and the media to carry out its awareness campaign.
