EHP UOT Students to Showcase Proposed Projects for Province During Fundraising Dinner

Eight students at the PNG University of Technology in Lae will be showcasing their final year projects during a fundraising dinner in Goroka at the end of this month (June).

Executives of the Unitech Eastern Highlands Students and Staff Association led by the President Mr Fabian Gozapao, Vice President Mr Aso Yame and event organizer Ms Baroline Hasu stated in an invitation letter to various individuals, government and business houses in the province that the projects are relevant to developments in the province.

The student projects include; The feasibility study of a new micro hydro scheme in Keremu in the Daulo District; automated solar power system for Eastern Highlands Provincial Hospital as a back up; proposed design of Danny Leahy oval; tender success of large contractors in PNG; creating solar cells from organic materials; surface sewage analysis through watershed approach at Fimito, Goroka; standalone turbine for Ramu Sugar Irrigation and bio-remediation potential for native micro-organism (bacteria) for heavy metal in polluted soil.

The presentations will be done on June 28 at the Steak Haus, Goroka from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.

Mr Gozapao said a table of seven persons is going for K1000 while individuals are K100.

He said the funds raised during the event will go towards the Association’s major awareness drive on education and social issues in the province during the Christmas break.

Mr Gozapao is also extending an open invitation to all stakeholders to attend the event.
