More than 500 bicycle riders took part in what has turned out to be the biggest Queen’s Birthday celebration in East New Britain Province today.
Over the last two years, Rabaul’s Pacific Industries, the major sponsor of the event, has organised the community event after realising there were not any major celebration held to commemorate the public holiday.
The event brought together people from all over East New Britain. And to a large extent, it relies on community participation to make such event a success.
The riders endured a 29-kilometre bike race from Kokopo to Rabaul. Men, women and children battled in their respective categories for the top spot to bag prizes.
