District Embraces Works Dept To Build Roads

Minister for Trade Commerce & Industry, and Member for Yangoru-Saussia District in East Sepik, Richard Maru, has announced that his District will be working in close partnership with the Department of Works to help build roads in his district.

Minister Maru announced this when witnessing the signing of the employment contract agreement for Yangoru-Saussia District’s Civil Engineer yesterday in Port Moresby.

The employment contract agreement was signed between the District’s Civil Engineer, Livingstone Hosea, and the Secretary for the Department of Works, David Wereh.

Minister said this year, the District has given the Department of Works K18 million worth of roads to build, maintain and upgrade, and it will be a big challenge for the Department of Works.

Meanwhile, the Secretary for the Department of Works, David Wereh says the Department wants to see that under the new PTD concept, the District becomes the model district for improving and up-keeping of roads.

Mr Wereh also thanked the Yangoru-Saussia District Budget Priorities Committee for their effort in supporting the Works Department.
