Digicel and Telikom put on notice to register sim cards

Minister for Finance James Marape has put telecommunications companies Digicel and Telikom on notice to register all sim cards and landlines.

He said as leader of Government Business he will make surethe process is fast tracked.

This is in light ofthe two bomb threats that were made tothe Vulupindi Haus.

The first threat was made on Friday Last week tothe Department of National Planning and Monitoring. The second was made on Monday tothe Department of Finance.

This has disruptedthe operations of both government departments, including Treasury.

Minister Marape’said with proper registrations of sim cards and landlines, police can be able to trace anonymous callers making such threats.

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Andy Bewa told EMTV, thatthe police do not take threats lightly.

He said while it is too early to assume,there could be a motive behindthetheats.
