Dei District: K2 Million For Road Maintenance

Dei District in Western Highlands has put K2 million into Works Department to do all its road maintenance and upgrading.

This will complement the two excavators the district bought last week at a cost of K1 million.

 

Today, the district presented a cheque of K2 million to Works Minister Francis AwEsa’

 

This morning, the Member for Dei, together with his district administrator and others from the district, met with Works Minister Francis AwEsa’

 

The meeting was the start of a partnership between the district and the department which will see the department supervising and coordinating all road works in the district.

 

Dei Member Wesley Nukunts emphasized the decision to cut down costs and at the same time utilize existing works infrastructure and systems.

 

The money will function as operational funds, complimenting the two excavators that were bought last week; all machines and money were handed over to the Works Minister today.

 

Minister AwEsa’thanked the Member and his JDP BPC for aligning their development plans to the national government by reactivating and reviving the plant and transport branch of the department.

 

Minister AwEsa’clarified that this is not to compete with contractors; it is to support what contractors are doing.

 

Representatives from the district present today commended the Member for his development plans.
