Day Two of 2016 Southern Nines

It was game on for Wanigela Kavela and Simla Waroi Brothers on the field to a scintillating start.

The first nine minutes of the first half of the match saw a great defensive line at the start of the whistle by Wanigela. But as the time narrowed, the Brothers added extra speed, to fend out their opponents.

They managed to get through the gaps to register their first try at the 5th minute. They got lead with four points, with the conversion being unsuccessful.

In the remaining four minutes of the first half, Wanigela managed to chase after the Brothers as they ganged up on the defence.

The second half of the match turned out to be tough as the clock was winding down for the last nine minutes.

With seven minutes remaining to full time, the teams showed great tactics, keeping the ball flowing from one side of the field to the other.

The momentum doubled for both teams with six minutes remaining to full time, Wanigela scored their first try. This equalized the score at four points each.

Utilizing the gaps provided by the Brothers, Wanigela took the opportunity to accelerate on their speed while passing the ball right to the end to score their second try. This was in the remaining minutes of full time, nailing the coffin with an eight-point lead at full time.

In the other matches Sekere Seals led with 10 points against Lalo eels.

The match between Trail Storms and SSG Roosters, saw SSG sharpen their knives with an eight-point attack win to Seals nil.

The matches continue tomorrow with finals to be played on Thursday.
