A crab vendor from Gulf Province was murdered by his relative in cold blood at Koki Fish Market in Port Moresby this morning (June 25).
According to Koki Market Revenue Clerk, Dadana Kairi, who witnessed the murder this morning, said it had nothing to do with the market.
It is believed that the deceased had stopped a fight between two of his relatives the night before. Out of sheer frustration, one of the relatives involved in the fight, chopped him up with a machete while he was asleep at Koki Fish Market, at around 7am this morning. After committing the crime, he surrendered himself to the Police and the matter is now with the Criminal Investigative Division in Boroko.
Mr Kairi has however assured the public that the market is safe and the murder was just an unfortunate incident brought on by an opportunist who took advantage of the situation.
