Court Recognises Small Coffee Growers Association Board

A new board will be established for the Small Coffee Growers Association in Papua New Guinea following a court decision on Thursday.

The Waigani National Court has recognised PNG Small Grower Coffee holder current Chairman Peter Kewa’s judicial review application for the establishment of a board.

Justice Makail has ruled in favor of the Applicant after considering the facts of the case are inconsistent to Section 10 of the Regulatory Statutory Authority Act 2004.

The court ordered that 60 days ultimatum is given for the establishment of the board, and another 30 days for the election of its executives.

Small holder coffee growers chairman, Peter Kewa, acknowledges the court for its decision on behalf of the small coffee growers association and their support during this court battle.

The Small Holder Coffee Growers Association comprised of seven cooperative members representing small coffee holders from different parts of the country.

It was established to carry out the operations of small coffee grower’s holders.

The establishment of the board will now have members from the Highlands, Momase, Islands and Southern region.
