Six police officers alleged to have illegally raided the premises of a car dealer in Port Moresby were served their court files today.
The six are all members of the Mobile Squad. They are accused to have illegally searched Two Fast Motors, before kidnapping the owner in March of this year.
Their case was adjourned by the Waigani Committal Court to July 27 for mention.
The six accused are out on K1,500 bail each, with this granted by Justice Panuel Mogish on the grounds that they were members of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary, and for the welfare of their families.
As part of their bail conditions they are not to consume alcohol and not to be in possession of firearms while their case is undergoing criminal proceedings.
The six accused were alleged to have illegally searched Two Fast Motors in Waigani on March 13, and robbed the premises of over K6,000 after kidnapping the owners. They were arrested 19 days later and charged with 11 counts of armed robbery, extortion and kidnapping.
