The road block that has been in progress since January 01st was successful with many bags of buai worth thousands of kina being confiscated just near the Laloki Bridge.

Some bags were given back to the owners to sell at the Ruburogo and Laloki market while the rest were burned.

A total of 600 buai bags are burned using tires and diesel. This was done after attempt to dispose buai in the Laloki river was unsuccessful.

The burning of the buai bags was a message to the general public to show the people that the Governor of NCD, Powes Parkop is serious about the total buai ban.

Over a hundred commuters have already been arrested. Among commuters arrested were three members of the Defence Force and also some Police Personnel. They will be dealt with accordingly.

NCD Governor’s Executive Officer, Terrance Moka, also stressed cooperation from citizens.
