The Community atthe Minimum Security Unit andthe Female wing atthe Bemana prison were recipients of food donations on Wednesday.
Members ofthe Chinese Embassy andthe China-PNG Friendship Association presentedthe food and gifts, a rare gesture as we head towardsthe Easter weekend.
It was a true show ofthe China-PNG friendhip atthe Bemana Prison Minimum Security Unit.
Detainees formed a queue to help unload boxes after boxes of frozen chicken, biscuits, and drinks. The association also gave wheel burrows, garden rakes, spades, forks and even musical instruments.
It was an early Easter visit and Charge D’Affair for the Embassy of People’s Republic of China Tang Ying had a message for the inmates.
It’sthe third time for the China-PNG Friendship Association to make a donation tothe prison community. The prison community acknowledgedthe kind gesture ofthe Chinese community.
Senior officers ofthe Correctional Service also thankedthe Chinese Embassy andthe Association for the continuous supportthey have been giving throughthe years.
