Chinese businessman killed at Badili, Port Moresby

A Chinese national is dead and another seriously injured after thugs robbed a shop in Port Moresby.

Poomo Trading was robbed by an unknown number of men early this morning, with an undisclosed amount of cash and goods.

Eyewitnesses say the suspects used a ladder to gain entry through a shop window.

The incident happened between 3am to 4am early this morning.

An eyewitness, Jamal Bau, told EMTV News that two shots were fired during the robbery. He says police arrived half an hour later.

“Police came but were late, the suspects took off,” said Jamal Bau.

“The CID Unit were called in to remove the body of the deceased while the other was rushed to the hospital for treatment,” said Bau.

Police are investigating the murder, and have ruled out the possibility of an organised crime killing.

This is the second murder at Poomo Trading Limited.

The previous attack occurred in 2013, when four Chinese nationals were also killed by armed men.
