A child has died and two admitted in the Port Moresby General Hospital Intensive Care Unit, attributed to the forceful eviction exercise.

Medical reports have revealed, these children were infected as a result of living in deteriorating conditions like poor water supply and sanitation.

About 200 families were forcefully evicted from the Works Compound in Port Moresby’s 4 Mile and are calling on authorities for help.

The death is far most the worst thing to happen to this group of settlers who are struggling to claim the land back from an Asian Company.

Community representatives, Tony Kagl, said proper procedures of acquiring land for development was not followed.

Mr Kagl said their lives are now affected. “We were not given an eviction notice, they just came with police and removed all our houses”, Mr Kagl said.

Mr Kagl is calling on NCD Governor Powes Parkop and other members of parliament to assist to solve the problem.

The Asian Company Blue Grass Limited refused to comment on the matter.
